Chennai Super Kings (CSK) endured a 50-run hammering against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at their home turf in IPL 2025 encounter on Friday. Batting first RCB piled a staggering 196/7 in 20 overs, which proved substantial in the end. CSK started the chase on a poor note and had lost half their side at just 75 in the 13th overs. In the end, the hosts could only accumulate 146/8 in 20 overs with MS Dhoni returning unbeaten on 16-ball 30.
Despite smashing three boundaries and a couple of maximums in the 16 balls, the outcome saw questions being raised on Dhoni's attitude as far his batting is concerned. Many experts criticised Dhoni for batting at number nine and his former India teammate Virender Sehwag too has joined the chorus.

Taking a brutal dig at Dhoni while interacting on Cricbuzz, Sehwag passed a snide remark and said "jaldi aa gaye na? (he came early, right?)" before bursting onto a laugh with Manoj Tiwary, another ex-India cricketer, who was part of the panel.
"Jaldi aa gaye na (laughs). Jab woh aaye tab toh 16 over huye they, woh actually aate hain 19-20 over mein, jaldi aa gaye na. Ya toh yeh jaldi aa gaye, ya toh inke (CSK) ballebazo ne jaldi wicket gawa diye. (He came early. When he walked out to bat it was the 16th over, and he normally comes at the 19th or the 20th over, so he came early. Either he came early or his teammates lost their wickets early.)," Sehwag said mocking Dhoni's batting position.
Sehwag is not the only one, who criticised Dhoni for batting at number nine. Irfan Pathan, Aakash Chopra, and Robin Uthappa also joined the bandwagon.
The outcome saw RCB climb to the top of the 10-team points table, having secured two wins from the same number of games. CSK, on the other hand, currently occupy the seventh spot with one win and one loss from the two matches they've played so far.
