Here's how the NRR is calculated: Both the rate at which a team scores and the rate at which its opposing team scores matter. NRR is calculated by subtracting the rate at which a team leaks runs from the rate at which it makes them. NRR can go below zero. Another thing to keep in mind is that the fair play awards does not factor into net run rate: The fair play award is given to the IPL team that follows the rules most closely. While it should give a big morale boost to IPL players and the IPL team's brand, it does not affect the NRR.
