India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was stopped by the umpire during an over he bowling in the Champions Trophy semi-final against Australia. Umpire Richard Illingworth asked Jadeja to remove tape from his bowling hand on Tuesday (March 4) at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

It all happened during the 19th over of the Australia innings when the side were 96 for 2. Jadeja was in his third over of the match with tape around his left wrist which covered his thumb and forefinger. Illingworth stopped the India all-rounder while he was running to bowl a delivery to ask him about the tape.

Virat Kohli and captain Rohit Sharma also joined the conversation with Jadeja and the official. During the over, Jadeja made a diving stop off his own bowling to Steve Smith, preventing a single but appearing to injure his hand in the process. Later in the innings, seemingly due to the injury to his bowling hand, Illingworth permitted him to reapply the tape.
