ICC Women's World Cup 2025: It was shades of MS Dhoni and Gautam Gambhir from the 2011 World Cup as Jemimah Rodrigues and captain Harmanpreet Kaur stitched together a match-winning partnership against Australia in the 2025 Women's World Cup semifinal on Thursday (October 30) at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
Chasing a mammoth target of 339, India's innings begin with chaos as opener Shafali Verma departed cheaply after some promising boundaries on her return. Coming in at number 3, Jemimah Rodrigues kept her cool to forma a solid partnership with Smriti Mandhana. However, luck was not in favour of the Indian vice-captain as she departed via cricket's one of the most unluckiest dismissal.

The ball was sent down the leg and Healy was quick enough to collect it, following which she went for an appeal but it was far from convincing. The bowler too was not sure of an edge and the on-field umpire was happy to continue. However, with three seconds left for DRS, Healy decided to go for a review and UltraEdge reflected a faint spike just when the ball was passing close to the bat. The moment left Mandhana shell shocked as she was adjudged caught-behind for run-a-ball 24.
In the end, it was Jemimah Rodrigues (127 off 134) with 14 fours guided her team over the line with cameos from Deepti Sharma (24 off 17), Richa Ghosh (26 off 16) and Amanjot Kaur (*15 off 8) who also scored the match-winning boundary.
Coming to the first innings, Phoebe Litchfield’s sensational 119 and half-centuries from Ellyse Perry (77) and Ashleigh Gardner (63) helped Australia set a 339-run target against a sloppy India in the second Women’s World Cup semifinal. India will face South Africa in the final.
