Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday shared the video of his interaction with the T20 World Cup winning Team India at his residence at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg in New Delhi.
“Our World T20 Champions enthralled everyone with their outstanding performances. Had a wonderful conversation with them,” said PM Modi posting a video.
Rahul Dravid shared his feelings with PM Modi. He said, "I would like to thank you for giving us this opportunity to meet you and during our match in Ahmedabad, you had come there as well, I agree, the time was not that good, so we are very happy that we could meet you today on this happy occasion. I would just like to say that the fighting spirit that Rohit and all these boys have shown, the never-say-die attitude that they have shown, means a lot, the credit goes to the boys, they have worked very hard for this. It is a matter of great joy that these boys have inspired the younger generation."
Suryakumar Yadav recalled his acrobatic catch at the boundary and shared that he had practiced such catches before the tournament as the team was preparing for the World Cup.
Hardik Pandya shared his rollercoaster run in the last six months while his transition from Gujarat Titans to Mumbai Indians in the IPL and the trolling that he faced in that entire tournament.
During the interaction, PM Modi asked Virat Kohli about handling the tense moments when he is in 90s and approaching a century.
Virat Kohli further admitted that his ‘ego’ got the better of him during his struggle during the recent T20 World Cup.
“There was a point when I told Rahul bhai that I am not doing justice to myself and the team so far. He replied ‘when the situation demands, I am confident you will perform’. So the kind of tournament I had, I wasn’t confident that I will be able to bat the way I wanted to during the final,” Kohli revealed.
On Rohit Sharma's act of eating grass after winning the final, PM Modi asked him about the taste of mud.
Jasprit Bumrah also got an opportunity to interact with PM Modi. At the end of the meeting, Bumrah's wife and child also accompanied him for the photo-op. PM Modi was seen playing with Bumrah's son as well.
During his interaction with the players, PM Modi shared some lighter moments as well. Yuzvendra Chahal is known for his witty actions. However, he was sitting quite serious during the meeting. PM Modi took this opportunity and asked him as to why he was so serious? This made everyone in the meeting break into laughter.
