This match also marked the end of Trent Boult's World Cup career, a bowler who has been instrumental in many of New Zealand's successes over the years. Boult's ability to swing the new ball and his evolution into a potent death bowler will be sorely missed by the Kiwis.
Papua New Guinea, on the other hand, ended their campaign without a win. Despite spirited individual performances in their earlier matches, they couldn't muster enough team efforts to secure a victory. Their early promise against the Windies did not translate into sustained success, and they will be reflecting on missed opportunities and planning for future improvements.
