Karun Nair didn't mince his words reacting to the Test axe, just after one series in England. Nair, who is only the second Indian after Virender Sehwag to smash 300 runs in Test, was not considered for the upcoming two-match series against West Indies with selectors showing faith in Devdutt Padikkal ahead of the 33-year-old.

BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar while announcing the squad was blunt when asked about Nair's omission. "Frankly, we expected a little bit more. He’s played four Tests, but we’ve spoken about just one innings. It is the way it is. We feel we needed a little bit more at this point. We wish we could give everyone 15 or 20 Tests, but it doesn’t work that way," the former India pacer said.

Nair while speaking to Times of India expressed he expected to be selected and is surprised by the omission. He also pointed out his knock from the fifth and final Test at The Oval, which was a do-or-die affair for Shubman Gill and Co. Then Nair batting at No. 5 helped the team to a respectable total, smashing 57, which was also the solitary half-century from the innings.
