Tensions flared late on Day 3 of the Test match between India and England at Edgbaston, as England captain Ben Stokes was seen heatedly arguing with the on-field umpire. The confrontation arose after Yashasvi Jaiswal was controversially allowed to review a decision despite appearing to exceed the 15-second DRS time limit.

Jaiswal was adjudged LBW by the on-field umpire and walked over to his opening partner KL Rahul to discuss the possibility of a review. The pair took longer than the allotted 15 seconds to make a decision, with Jaiswal signaling for the DRS a few seconds after the window had expired.

Despite the delay, on-field umpire Sharfuddoula referred the decision upstairs. This prompted an immediate reaction from Ben Stokes, who confronted the umpire to express his displeasure over the review being allowed. Stokes argued that the review should not be allowed, but following a short discussion, the umpires upheld Jaiswal’s request.

However, the review didn’t work in Jaiswal’s favor. Ball-tracking confirmed all three reds, ending his innings at 28 off 22 deliveries. While England celebrated the breakthrough, the home crowd reacted with boos, unhappy with the sequence of events.
