Ravichandran Ashwin reportedly will be the first well-known male Indian cricketer to play in the Big Bash League (BBL). Additionally, it might occur as early as the next season of the top T20 competition in Australia.
According to a Cricbuzz report, Ashwin and Cricket Australia (CA) CEO Todd Greenberg are now debating whether the star Indian spinner will be able to showcase his skills in the BBL. Conversations began when Greenberg contacted the well-known Indian spinner shortly after he declared his IPL retirement last week.

The BBL may be Ashwin's first destination as a freelance T20 explorer, as he has alluded to becoming a "explorer of the game around (the) various leagues" in what will be a major acquisition for the Australian cricket summer.
In terms of how they could close the deal, CA is in control at this point. As well as how it appears, including how many games Ashwin would be available for and—more significantly—which of the eight clubs' colors he would ultimately wear. However, if he does make it this far, some sources do think he might be headed to Melbourne.
According to the report, Greenberg acknowledged that he had called Ashwin and disclosed that a possible transaction was being discussed, adding that he would be thrilled if it came to pass.

"To get someone with Ashwin's credentials to come over here for the BBL will be great at so many levels. He's a champion cricketer who will bring a lot to the Big Bash and to our cricket summer," Greenberg told Cricbuzz.
In order to prepare a plan that he can present to Ashwin, Greenberg's next steps are to speak with the clubs and other interested parties. Even though all eight teams technically used the majority of their pay budget at the draft, CA might need to come up with a last-minute way to include Ashwin, the report added.
