On Tuesday, June 25, the launch of the NOAA’s GOES-U weather satellite will take place. The two-hour launch window goes open at 5:16 p.m. EDT (2:46 a.m. IST).
The live coverage of the launch can be seen on the public broadcasting done on Space.com at 3p.m. EDT (12:30 a.m.). The coverage can also be seen at the official X profile of the company @SpaceX.
The NOAA’s GOES-U (Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellites) spacecraft, is getting launched to monitor weather and environmental phenomena.
The satellite will be launched on top of Space X Falcon Heavy Rocket, from the launch pad 39A at NASA Kennedy Space Center.
This will be the 10th launch of Falcon Heavy Rocket. This rocket will use 9 Falcon boosters and is fully loaded with the second stage of rocker and a payload at top in case of the situation where the NOAA satellite needs protection while it’s journey in space as it surrounds the protect.
On Monday during a press conference the senior mission manager in NASA's Launch Services Program, Denton Gibson said "The GOES-U spacecraft is ready, the launch vehicle is ready, and we're looking forward to getting the spacecraft in orbit,".
This satellite will orbit the 22,300 miles above the Earth to monitor the weather condition in the U.S. The launch will be commence considering the weather conditions for the smooth launch.
In Monday briefing launch weather officer, Brian Cizek said, “We're going to go with a 70% probability of violation, or a 30% chance of 'go' for all the weather rules that we evaluate,".
This launch mission will help scientist understand the climate condition. As the satellite will deliver advanced imagery, real-time time mapping, space weather observation and more.
