The Shri Ram Mandir Nirman Samiti chairman, Nripendra Mishra, confirmed that 99 per cent of the temple's construction has been completed, marking a significant milestone in the Ayodhya Ram Mandir project.
Final Phase Begins with Spiritual Significance
Speaking to the media, Mishra announced that the final stage of the temple construction began on Sunday, a day considered highly auspicious as it coincided with Dr B.R. Ambedkar Jayanti. Mishra noted that this milestone also celebrated Lord Ram’s ideals of social harmony, resonating deeply with the Constitution’s core values championed by Ambedkar.
Structural Work Nears Completion
According to Mishra, the ground, first, and second floors of the temple structure are fully constructed. The sacred Ram Darbar, a divine assembly of Lord Ram and his family, is scheduled to be installed on the first floor in May. The Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust will soon finalise the ceremony's details.
While most of the temple’s structure is complete, around 2,000 cubic stones still need to be positioned along the sides. However, Mishra confirmed that no additional stonework is required in the sanctum sanctorum, ensuring its spiritual integrity remains intact.
The Shikhar (spire) of the temple is also 99% ready, with the Kalash (sacred urn) already installed at the summit. Another kalash meant for the parkota (temple perimeter) is expected to be placed by April 30.
Efforts are also ongoing to strengthen the surrounding ramparts and complete the Northern Gate, which is almost finished. Landscaping and horticulture work will soon begin in the northern area, where temporary offices will be demolished in the next three months, following the temple's master plan.
In honour of Ambedkar Jayanti, Mishra also shared that seven smaller temples dedicated to revered figures from Lord Ram’s life – including Maharishi Valmiki, Nishad Raj, Shabari, Ahalya, Agastya Muni, and Vashishtha – have been completed. The idols for these temples have also arrived in Ayodhya.
A unique attraction, the Jaltal Pushkarni, a beautifully designed water tank surrounded by these temples, was recently unveiled. Visitors were treated to a joyful sight as a group of monkeys took a bath in it, adding a touch of divine charm to the celebration.
Looking Ahead: Completion by December 2025
All remaining construction activities, including the completion of surrounding works and additional spiritual installations, are expected to be finalised by December 2025.
Mishra also announced upcoming installations, such as a statue of Goswami Tulsidas, after which devotees will be able to offer their prayers. Additionally, work on the temple's museum is progressing well, with a goal to complete five galleries in the next three months, aiming to enhance the visitor experience.
While acknowledging some delays in the timeline, Mishra expressed gratitude and apologised for the setbacks, reaffirming the commitment to deliver a sacred space that reflects India’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage.
