Parashurama Jayanti, the birth anniversary of Lord Parashurama, the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu, will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 29, 2025. This sacred occasion falls during the Shukla Paksha Tritiya of the Hindu month of Vaishakha. Significance of Parashurama Jayanti

Parashurama Jayanti holds great significance in Hinduism. Lord Parashurama is believed to have appeared on Earth to relieve it of the burden caused by corrupt and unrighteous rulers. His mission was to protect dharma (righteousness) by destroying the sinful and oppressive kings who had exploited the Earth's resources and failed to fulfil their responsibilities.

Unlike other avatars of Lord Vishnu, Parashurama is considered to be immortal. According to Hindu tradition, he still resides on Earth. Because of his continuing presence, he is not worshipped in the same manner as Lord Rama or Lord Krishna, the seventh and eighth avatars of Vishnu.

In southern India, the holy site of Pajaka near Udupi is particularly associated with Parashurama. A significant temple dedicated to him stands there. Along India's western coastline, several temples also honour Lord Parashurama's legacy.
