• Pind Daan: Offering rice balls mixed with ghee, honey, and sesame seeds. This is a symbolic offering for the nourishment and satisfaction of the departed souls.


• Tarpan: Water mixed with black sesame seeds, barley, and kusha grass is offered as a part of Tarpan to quench the thirst of the ancestors and bring peace to their souls.


• Offering Food: Special meals including the favorite dishes of the deceased are prepared and offered to Brahmins or priests. This gesture is believed to bring immense spiritual merit to the family.


• Charity: Giving donations, food, or clothes to those in need after the Shraddha is considered an act of charity that pleases the departed souls.

Magha Shraddha is performed on the day when the Magha Nakshatra prevails during Aparahna Kala (afternoon period) in the Pitru Paksha. This day is crucial as it is believed that Magha Nakshatra is ruled by the Pitrs (पितृ), the spirits of departed ancestors. Hindus observe this day to ensure peace, liberation (Moksha), and spiritual satisfaction for their ancestors.

If the Magha Nakshatra occurs for a longer duration on one of two days during Aparahna Kala, that day is chosen for performing the Shraddha. Furthermore, if both Magha Nakshatra and Trayodashi Tithi coincide during Aparahna Kala, the day is referred to as Magha Trayodashi Shraddha, making the rituals even more spiritually potent.

Performing rituals during these specific Muhurats ensures that the offerings are accepted by the ancestors and that their blessings are showered upon the family.
