This World Environment Day is as good as time as any to revisit what we use and how we use to reduce the damage we are inflicting on nature.

Rising consumerism has eroded our ecosystem and damaged the environment, perhaps irreparably. Environment activists across the world have been flagging the damage and also raising awareness to reverse the damage.

The planet is far from healthy and a lot more needs to be done but in the battle to save the environment, every little step counts. The World Environment Day, which falls on June 5, is a good time to make a start at a personal level. Let us take a closer look at how and what we consume so that we can reduce the damage to the environment while looking for eco-friendly alternatives:

Plastic

According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), despite a ban on single-use plastic, India generates an estimated 26,000 tonnes of plastic a day, of which more than 10,000 tonnes remain uncollected.
