Virat Kohli and Babar Azam’s mutual respect for each other is quite well known. While Azam has always regarded Kohli as his role model, the former Indian captain has time-and-again acknowledged the Pakistani skipper’s game as well. He referred to Azam as the 'the top batter in the world across formats’ in an interview with Star last year. Now, a video of the two that has gone viral online served as further proof of their admiration for each other.
In the clip that is doing the rounds of the internet, Kohli was seen gifting a few signed jersey to Azam after the much-awaited India versus Pakistan match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday. While the clash ended with India’s win, the cricketers’ camaraderie bowled over their fans and social media users alike.
In the now-viral footage, Kohli was also seen chatting with Azam after handing him a couple of signed jerseys.
Pictures of the same surfaced on X (formerly Twitter) as well.
Social media users were absolutely delighted to witness the sportsmanship portrayed by the two cricketers.
“Good gesture, exchange of words between Babar and Kohli,” a user wrote. Another user commented, “GOATS in one frame. Beautiful gesture.”
“2 kings in one frame,” a third user remarked. A fourth user wrote, “Fan boy moment.”
Meanwhile, the high-pressure India vs Pakistan clash ended on a high note for the former as India beat the Babar Azam-led side by 7 wickets. The team cruised through the target of 192 with Rohit Sharma shining and making a total of 86 runs.
