The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) on 10 October 2013 has released the draft SEBI (Real Estate Investment Trusts) Regulations, 2013 (Draft Regulations) along with a consultation paper. SEBI has invited public comments on the Draft Regulations till 31 October 2013. The Draft Regulations seek to establish Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) as an investment option in India and takes a more industry friendly approach compared to the draft REIT regulations published by SEBI in 2008.
