The man contacted health authorities in Reno, Nevada in mid-December, claiming that his lips started feeling numb after eating the sandwich, the Reno Gazette Journal reported, citing a report by Northern Nevada Public Health (NNPH).

Health inspectors arrived at the Subway outlet in South McCarran after receiving the complaint. The man claimed that a white powder on his sandwich made his lips numb. However, the person in charge told inspectors that the restaurant had received a new shipment of the “parmesan oregano bread topping mix” which seemed to include more parmesan powder than normal.
