For the first Forbes India Leadership Award, a group of very illustrious jury members discuss on the leaders that contribute in giving India a firm shape.
The eminent jury members include KV Kamath, chairman of ICICI Bank and Infosys; BN Kalyani, chairman and managing director of Bharat Forge; Akhil Gupta, chairman of Blackstone Advisors India; Indrajit Gupta, editor of Forbes India; Rama Bijapurkar, market strategy consultant and Janmejaya Sinha, managing director of BCG India. Q: You spent all day deliberating on who should be the winners of the first ever Forbes India Leadership Awards and you and the members of the jury I hope have reached a consensus by now on all the categories that you have been deliberating? Kamath: Yes. Q: In this current context our discussion is about relooking at the relationship between business and the political structure of India so what we would like to call the post Anna Hazare era what is the single biggest challenge for a business leader? Kamath: I would think that business leader should concentrate on what he is suppose to do. He should look at his business and that focus should not change. I guess there has been a call for better governments, he should concentrate on that. Let rest of it short itself out and it will I am sure. We have a democracy and things will sort themselves out as we go along. But a businessman should concentrate on these two things and that is the mandate.
