Is the IPL in good shape? Last week, the BCCI terminated the Hyderabad team Deccan Chargers after the cash strapped Deccan Chronicle Holdings failed to make payments, including player salaries. This comes after the media house failed to find a suitable buyer for the team it had bought in 2008 for USD 107 million. The Deccan Chargers follows the Kochi Tuskers in being booted out of the IPL. Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab also had their contracts terminated, but continued to play thanks to a court order in their favour. On the sponsor front, DLF has not renewed its contract with the IPL. Godrej repositions Cinthol from its mass-market position to a more premium one: Godrej Consumer Products has revamped its flagship personal care brand Cinthol. The mass-market soap brand which was launched in 1952, will now be positioned as a premium youth brand that and has extended to include not just talcum powder and deodorants, but also shower gels now. Why Google is pushing mobile services to marketers: Internet usage and mobile devices is set to grow at over 80% annually till 2016 - and that's the opportunity Google wants to capitalize on. Last month, the tech giant announced its global program "Let’s Talk Mo” for India and rolled out the platform to enable brands to build mobile optimized sites for free this past week.
