Confident digitisation's 2nd phase will be on time: Govt

It is exactly one month after the Phase 1 of digitisation was expected to be completed in the country. However, Kolkata is still running analog signals and the Madras High Court has postponed the hearing of the petition to extend the digitisation deadline in Chennai for another four weeks.

It is exactly one month after the Phase 1 of digitisation was expected to be completed in the country. However, Kolkata is still running analog signals and the Madras High Court has postponed the hearing of the petition to extend the digitisation deadline in Chennai for another four weeks.

Even though the Phase 1 is not yet complete, the Ministry for Information and Broadcasting is going full steam ahead to ensure that Phase 2 is carried out according to plan. Thirty-eight cities including Pune, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Lucknow and Ahmedabad will have to switch to digital TV signals by March 31.
