Also read: Dell says leveraged recap would be risky The panel was chaired by Srivatsa Krishna, IAS and comprised of KP Balaraj managing director of WestBridge Capital, Vijay Pattabhiraman managing director JP Morgan Asia, Akhil Gupta chairman Blackstone Advisors India, Sandeep Naik managing director of General Atlantic India, Ashish Dhawan chairman ChrysCapital and Neeraj Bharadwaj managing director Carlyle India. Discussing the PE sector, the panel said that though 2002 to 2007 was a golden period for the sector, but, being a relatively new industry in India, promoters and entrepreneurs have been a bit risk averse. But though returns have not been great till now, this is a watershed moment for the industry, with many more buyouts in the market.  They agreed that we are coming close to a point where the PE segment could look attractive again. However, the area that needs to be addressed is corporate governance, with the regulator being more proactive.
