A day after Kolkata received more than 250 mm of rain -- nearly 20 percent of its annual average of 1,345.5 mm in just seven hours -- large parts of the city continue to be under water. The incident appears to have happened in Ballygunge area of South Kolkata.

In the comments, a section of users slammed the city's drainage system and questioned why luxury car owners are made to pay high taxes when the roads are not fit to drive them. But others highlighted that Kolkata has good drainage but it was not equipped to deal with over 250 mm of rain in just a few hours.
