Outrage after man lets child urinate on Delhi Metro tracks at Inderlok station: 'Make him clean it'

The 22-second clip showed the child standing at the edge of the platform, relieving himself while his father looked on. The person filming, apparently another commuter, could be heard saying in Hindi: 'Look at this man. He is letting his child urinate here at Inderlok Metro Station. He is not even ashamed about it. This is a public space. He is one of the most uncivilised people of India.'

The discussion prompted others to share personal experiences of questionable public behaviour on the metro.

A man in Delhi faced a wave of online condemnation after a video emerged showing him allowing his young son to urinate on the tracks at Inderlok Metro Station, moments before a train arrived.

The footage, originally uploaded to Reddit’s r/Delhi community before being removed for breaching platform rules, reappeared on X (formerly Twitter), where it provoked fierce debate.

The 22-second clip showed the child standing at the edge of the platform, relieving himself while his father looked on. The person filming, apparently another commuter, could be heard saying in Hindi: “Look at this man. He is letting his child urinate here at Inderlok Metro Station. He is not even ashamed about it. This is a public space. He is one of the most uncivilised people of India.”

The camera panned to the station signage before focusing back on the pair. Moments later, another man, possibly a Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) employee, approached the father to speak with him. The father gave a brief, indistinct reply and then walked away with his son.

Reactions on social media were sharply divided. Many condemned the father’s actions as an example of declining civic behaviour. “Metro stations literally have toilets. Where is the security? Why aren’t such offenders heavily fined?” one user asked.
