Despite high expectations, Barbie actress Margot Robbie did not get nominated for the best actress in a leading role category, disappointing thousands of fans.
The film, however, got nominated in six categories: including best actor in the supporting role, costume design, best actress in a supporting role, original song, production design, and, best picture.
Interestingly, the Australian actress was not the first choice for the role in Barbie, reported Economic Times. The casting process for the film involved considering various actresses such as Amy Schumer and Anne Hathaway. The latter had a brief attachment to the role in July 2017, but ultimately, Margot Robbie was chosen for the iconic role.
Greta Gerwig's popular Barbie -- a sharp satire about misogyny and female empowerment -- is, however, a leading contender for best picture at Oscars 2024 to be announced on March 10.
Meanwhile, Margot Robbie and stylist Andrew Mukamal's curated Barbiecore styles that the actor sported on nearly every red carpet and press appearance will be commemorated in the fashion photo book “Barbie: The World Tour,” Variety reported.
“This book was an idea I had in my living room when I started dreaming about Margot’s wardrobe for the ‘Barbie’ press tour in March 2023,” Mukamal wrote in an Instagram post. “I could have never imagined just a few months later we’d be in the studio shooting this project with the team of our dreams. … This book is a labor of love, dedicated to all the Barbie lovers and fashion fans around the world.”
