Meerut man hospitalised after dead lizard found in chicken curry ordered from Zomato

A resident of Meerut fell ill after he reportedly found a dead lizard in a chicken dish ordered through Zomato from the well-known local restaurant Kake Da Hotel. The incident, which circulated widely on X along with a video, prompted widespread concern about food safety and scrutiny of both the establishment and the delivery platform.

The customer, identified as Vijay, had ordered cooked chicken from the outlet. While eating the meal, he later realised that a dead lizard was present in the gravy. According to the account shared online, he had already consumed a portion of the dish before noticing the contamination. He began vomiting soon afterwards and was subsequently admitted to hospital for treatment.

The video posted on X showed the aftermath in the room where the meal had been opened. The person recording the clip described what had taken place, showing the lizard on the floor next to spilled food and partly used containers. Vijay appeared to be lying on a bed in a semi-conscious state. The individual filming remarked that the situation had arisen because Vijay had unknowingly eaten the contents before discovering what had been inside.

The post accompanying the footage stated: “The chicken had been delivered via Zomato. After eating nearly half of it, Vijay suddenly spotted a dead lizard lurking in the gravy. He began vomiting immediately and had to be rushed to the hospital.”

The video generated a wide set of responses. One user wrote, “Jokes aside, Indians have to resort to such retarded behaviors such as carrying food ingredients and cooking equipment when traveling because the State is too weak to impose hygiene standards on public eateries.”
