Malayalam actor Divya Prabha has alleged that she was harassed by a man on a Mumbai-Kochi Air India flight on Tuesday.
The incident took place before takeoff and writing on Instagram, the actor said that the passenger, on the Air India flight AI 681, was drunk and started talking to her about the seat location which did not make any sense. "The incident involved a passenger seated in 12C who, under the influence of alcohol, switched his seat to 12B with me (12A) and initiated an argument with no logic regarding the seat's location and the individual's misbehavior, including inappropriate physical contact," she wrote on Instagram.
Prabha further said that she informed the flight crew about the passenger's misbehavior, who did not take any serious action against him and only changed their seat to a few rows ahead. "I promptly reported the matter to the air hostess on the flight. However, the only action taken was my relocation to a middle seat three or four rows ahead. Unfortunately, no measures were taken against the harasser," she added.
Prabhu's post saw many comments. Some users praised her for sharing her experience openly while others criticised Air India not acting more sternly.
"More power to you." one user wrote.
"Air India better you people sell Banana and live, if you don’t know to take care of passengers," another user wrote.
"This is outrageous. Has to be taken up," a third user wrote.
Prabha said that after landing in Kochi, she reported the incident to Air India and airport staff who told her to seek police help and gave her an email address to file a formal complaint.
