Kavya Maran, who is the CEO of SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) made headlines on Tuesday. The businesswoman’s reaction after bagging Wanindu Hasaranga at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 mini-auction took social media by storm. The auction is currently underway at the Coca Cola Arena in Dubai.
Maran, who is the daughter of SRH owner Kalanithi Maran, was seen beaming after outbidding Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for Hasaranga. The franchise bought the Sri Lankan leg-spinner at a base price of Rs 1.5 crore.
Pictures of Maran’s reaction after acquiring the steal deal went viral on the internet, especially X. Several posts by X users also flooded the site as Maran sealed Hasaranga’s spot in the team.

Meanwhile, SRH also bagged Australian skipper Pat Cummins for a staggering price of Rs 20.5 crore. With this, he became the most expensive player in IPL’s history. However, within an hour, Aussie bowler Mitchell Starc was picked up by Kolkata Knight Riders for a whopping Rs 24.75 crore.
SRH and CSK indulged in a bidding war for Travis Head as well. However, the former beat the latter again after buying the Australian opener for Rs 6.80 crore. With this, Head found his new home in SRH as a direct replacement for Harry Brook.
SunRisers Hyderabad won their maiden IPL trophy in 2016. The team defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by eight runs in the final.
