Another charge of medical negligence has been levelled against the Hyderabad dental hospital where a 28-year-old man recently lost his life during a routine procedure, allegedly due to anaesthesia overdose.

Months before this horrific incident, a patient’s lip was “accidentally chopped off” by a dentist at the hospital, which is located in Hyderabad’s posh Jubilee Hills area. X user Sowmya Sangam said her friend had visited the hospital more than a year ago.

“The dentist accidentally chopped off her lip, leaving a deep depression in her mouth,” she said, sharing a picture of the friend in question. The picture shows a woman with the right side of her lower lip missing.
Sangam said that her friend is still suffering from the after-effects of the medical accident, more than a year after it happened. She cannot stretch her lip fully, cannot laugh or smile widely and is on steroids to regain flexibility.

The patient, who has not been named, had visited the hospital for a routine tooth extraction. Her mother left a negative review of the hospital on Google, which sheds more light on the incident.

According to the review, “during her tooth extraction, the ‘senior’ dentist (also maxillofacial surgeon) with his assistant burnt off her mouth with their dental instruments.”
