Groww CEO apologises for app glitch: ‘This time, it hurt a lot more’

Groww CEO Lalit Keshre has apologised for a glitch that prevented users from accessing the stock investment platform for over an hour on January 23 during market hours.

Groww CEO Lalit Keshre has apologised for a glitch that prevented users from accessing the stock investment platform for over an hour on January 23 during market hours. Keshre acknowledged the magnitude of repercussions, noting that even a few minutes of downtime can adversely affect users.

“On Jan 23rd, many customers could not open the Groww app in the morning for around an hour… we are deeply sorry,” wrote the CEO of founder of the online stock broker on X.

Keshre said that technical issues happen from time to time. The largest such issue that Groww faced was back on April 6, 2023. “Each one of them still hurts and remains like a scar. However, this time, it hurt a lot more,” he said.

He also acknowledged that the company could have been more proactive in communicating the issue to its users. “we could have communicated promptly. As the largest broker in the country, we should be more proactive in communicating with our trusted customers. We sincerely apologise for not doing this as well as you expected us,” Keshre wrote, promising greater transparency in the future.
Many users of the mutual fund and stock investment app complained about glitches on Thursday. While some were not able to access their accounts, others were logged out every few minutes during trading hours.

Keshre said that Groww has a large engineering team dedicated to problem solving.
