Underpants belonging to Wall Street swindler Bernard Madoff were among items sold during the weekend at an auction held under the auspices of the US Marshals Service.

The Miami Herald said the 14 pairs of boxer shorts, confiscated along with other personal items from Madoff's former mansion in nearby Palm Beach, fetched a total of USD 200.
The items sold were mostly household goods but a Madoff shoe collection, antique golf clubs and some artwork also were included.
A work titled "Nude" by Depression-era photographer Edward Weston, a picture of a stark naked rear end, sold for USD 4,600, the newspaper said.
It said about 6,000 online bidders participated in the auction and more than USD 400,000 in proceeds will go toward compensating victims of Madoff's USD 65 billion Ponzi scheme, for which he is now serving a 150-year prison sentence.
