From food, music and floral decorations to bridal outfits and custom invitations; planning a wedding takes months, but the final event seems momentary in comparison. Someone wise once said, in India a marriage not only takes place between two individuals, but it is a marriage between two families.
Once the wedding celebrations are done with it are the photos that everybody waits for with great anticipation to cherish the memories for generations to come and to ensure the special event stays alive forever, a photographer works diligently to capture these moments; whether it is the photo of the shy bride, the nervous groom, the teary eyed parents or the behind the scenes craziness. The wedding photographer manages to transform a chaotic wedding scene into a celebrated saga. Last year the Better Photography Magazine honoured the creators of these timeless pictures. Following its remarkable success last year the Wedding Photographer of the Year Awards 2012 raised the bar this year, coming back bigger, brighter and more vibrant than ever. This year six finalists of 24,648 entries made it to the final face-off at Mumbai. The photographers were given individual time with a couple to submit their final portfolio. The judging was headed by legendary wedding photographer Prakash Tilokani, famed editorial and documentary photographer Fawzan Hussain and CEO of Percept Sports & Entertainment Aditya Motwane. The final submissions handed in by the finalists were par excellence, each entry outdoing the other and the winners are as follows: The winner of bridal portraiture is Tarun Chawla from New Delhi, winner of couple portraiture is Chenthil Bharathi Mohan from Bengaluru, winner of family and friends category is Vivek Sequiera from Mangalore, winner of emotions category is Prasanta Singha from Kolkata, winner of behind the scenes category is Riddhi Parekh from Mumbai, winner of the theme photo series in single wedding is Sutirtha Basu from Kolkata and the wedding Photographer of the Year 2012 is Vivek Sequiera from Mangalore.Discover the latest Business News, Sensex, and Nifty updates.
