The richest person in history, tech billionaire Elon Musk has said that he has no respect for people who post on the professional networking site, LinkedIn. His comment followed a plea by the CEO of one of Europe's leading energy corporations, RWE, after Germany began to face a shortage in power supply.
Markus Krebber posted an appeal on LinkedIn for more "secure" power supplies as electricity bills became 10 times more expensive than usual.
Musk responded to the lengthy post reshared on X by saying: "I instantly lose respect for anyone who posts on LinkedIn. Unbearably cringe."
While LinkedIn is yet to respond to the comment, many of Musk's over 200 million followers seemed to agree with him.
"LinkedIn is the biggest professional charade out there. People use it thinking it’ll open doors to real opportunities, but let’s be honest—it’s more about appearances than results," commented Charlie Charlie (@CharlieWrldTV). "Companies post jobs they never plan on filling, just to make it look like they’re growing or to stockpile resumes for 'future needs'. It’s a complete waste of time for people genuinely looking for work."
Another X user Mike (@CentralNYGuy69) said, "I have a LinkedIn account, and it's somewhat useful for the job postings I get sent in my email, to stay up to date on what's out there in case I become unemployed or want to switch jobs, but as a 'social media' or 'news' site, it's absolutely useless."
Musk's reaction also follows the announcement of X being declared the top news app on App Store in India. The tech billionaire had bought the platform (formerly Twitter) in October 2022, for $44 billion. "X is now the #1 news app on the AppStore in India," DogeDesigner said in a post on Friday. Sharing the post, Musk said, "X is now #1 for news in India!"
