A US-based CEO has ignited a firestorm of criticism after firing 99 employees in one sweep for missing a meeting – on Slack. A Reddit user, claiming to be a recently hired intern at the company, shared a screenshot of the CEO’s explosive Slack message that has since gone viral on social media.

The company, reportedly a marketplace for musical instruments, saw its workforce of 111 slashed to just 11 after the CEO, identified only as Baldvin, delivered an angry tirade in the company’s Slack channel. The intern revealed that nearly the whole team was terminated just an hour after they started at the job.

In the leaked screenshot, Baldvin accused the employees of failing to meet their contractual obligations.

“For those of you who did not show up to the meeting this morning, consider this your official notice: you’re all fired,” the CEO wrote.
