A 35-year-old woman in Bengaluru stabbed her husband while he was asleep for not getting her a gift on their wedding anniversary, Times of India reported. The 37-year-old husband is currently recovering after being treated at a hospital.
According to the police, the incident happened at 1.30 am on February 27. Aarti (name changed) took a kitchen knife and stabbed Karan's hand when he was asleep. Waking up with a start, Karan (name changed) pushed her away and with the help of neighbours, rushed to a hospital.
The doctors then sent a medico-legal case report to the police because of the stab injury. A case of attempt to murder has been filed with the Bellandur Police.
"The case was registered against Aarti on March 1 and she was questioned. Since it is a family matter, we have given the couple time to discuss the issue and get back to us," an officer told the publication. "During the investigation, we learnt that Karan couldn't buy her a gift a day before their wedding anniversary because of his grandfather's death. She was disturbed as it was the first time he hadn't given her a gift. Karan told us his wife was disturbed over some personal issues and he wanted her to undergo counselling."
In a similar incident in Bengaluru, a 52-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly attacking her husband, 56, and stabbing him with a kitchen knife after he declined to take her to Singapore along with him. The main reason behind the man refusing to take his wife along was he felt that she was not adept at keeping the house clean.
The man, who holds Singapore citizenship and has been working in the country for 25 years, got married in 2002. He has a 20-year-old son, who has been staying with his mother in Bengaluru since childhood.
The man's wife and son would visit him in Singapore for a few days and he would also come to Bengaluru twice or thrice a year, to spend time with the family.
