A Bengaluru woman claims her date used AI to chat with her online - and meeting him in person came as a complete shock. Reddit user “hustlegurrl” shared a post on her experience of actually meeting the person with whom she had been exchanging text messages. She said that the man appeared witty and charming when chatting with her over messages, but in person, he was “dull and uninteresting.”
In her Reddit post titled “I got AI'd on a date in Bangalore,” the woman explained that their text conversations “were really good.” Over text messages, she found the man to be “someone really funny and super entertaining.”
However, her perception changed when she met the man for a date in real life. There, he was complete opposite of his online persona. “All that language and wit disappeared,” she wrote.
During the date, the man spoke at length about “things in AI and some tools he’s using.”

“Then he let it slip how he used AI even in his chats. And he quickly changed the subject,” the woman said. “That's when i realised what had happened. The dude has been using AI in all his chats with me!” She ended her post by saying she was left annoyed by the whole experience and described her date as “dull and uninteresting” in person.
Since being shared this morning, the post has received nearly 2,000 upvotes on Reddit and has made its way to Twitter, where it has sparked a lively conversation on the dating scene in Bengaluru.
Some on Twitter (now X) called it a “peak Bengaluru” moment, befitting the Silicon Valley of India. Others cracked jokes.
“Wake up, babe, there's new genre of bad dates in the market,” wrote one user. “AI will take your jobs, and eventually your dates,” another quipped.
