A woman from the United States claimed that she saved around $40,000 (Rs 33,21,800 approximately) on medical and beauty treatments over nearly three years by travelling abroad for her Botox treatments, hair appointments and even dentist visits.
“I was getting hair extensions done in Idaho — they had raised their prices to $4,500. It was astronomical,” Bryn Elise Wright, 29, explained to SWNS. “I started thinking about other options. I started looking abroad.” The idea came to her in the summer of 2021 after an Instagrammer in Istanbul promised to do her hair for $500.
“I thought there was a miscommunication at first. We worked it into our travel plans. It went wonderfully. I was blown away,” she said.
Now, Wright is advocating beauty tourism and has already visited 14 countries with her boyfriend, Cody Jorgenson for various procedures, New York Post reported. She estimated that she has saved $10,000 on hair extensions, $10,000 on dentist treatments and another $20,000 on a hospital stay for a flu bug.
Wright chooses her travel destinations based on places where she can get cheap treatments. She claimed that she got Botox for just $140 in Istanbul, instead of spending $700 to $800 in the US. “It ended up being awesome. The doctor was a pro,” Wright, who is an Amazon reseller from Colorado, added.
In addition, Wright had a laser hair removal in Paris for $400 instead of $2,000. She chipped a tooth while travelling in Bali and booked a dentist’s visit for just $70, rather than $600-700 in the US. Now, the woman plans to book plane tickets for cheap beauty treatments.
She claimed that when the couple fell ill in Thailand and had to spend 24 hours in a hospital, they shelled out only $120 each on treatment. “I wouldn’t have gone to hospital if I’d been at home,” she said pointing out that a hospital bill in America would have been between $10,000 and $20,000.
