Samsung recently launched its flagship Galaxy Note 20 series this week. We also got confirmation that the Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G will be arriving in India soon, with consumers already being able to pre-order the two phones. The Galaxy Note 20 is priced at Rs 77,999 in India, while the Note 20 Ultra costs Rs 1,04,999.
With a difference of over Rs 25,000, the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra is significantly more expensive than the standard Note 20. So, we’ve decided to compare the two devices and check if the massive difference in price is worth it. For comparison, the difference in price between the Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10 Plus was Rs 10,000.

First off, both phones are pretty similarly designed with quite a few noteworthy differences on the spec sheet. The only noticeable change on the standard Galaxy Note 20 is the lack of the autofocus module and a lack of screen curvature. Lastly, the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra also uses the latest Gorilla Glass Victus as opposed to Gorilla Glass 5 on the standard Note 20.
On the inside, both Note 20 phones feature the same chipset, although the Note 20 Ultra supports 5G, which means Samsung has opted to use a 5G modem on the phone.
The screen on the vanilla Galaxy Note 20 is a pretty standard AMOLED display with a Full HD+ resolution and 60Hz refresh rate as opposed to a top-end QHD+ AMOLED panel on the Note 20 Ultra 5G, not to mention the 120Hz refresh rate.
While the S Pen stylus has been upgraded for both phones, the Note 20 Ultra 5G gets an improved low latency to achieve of 9ms. The Galaxy Note 20 Ultra also has a slightly larger battery than the standard Note 20.
The biggest and probably the most important difference between the two phones lies in the camera setup. While both phones opt for a triple camera setup, the Note 20 Ultra gets the 108 MP primary sensor as opposed to a 12 MP primary sensor on the Note 20. The Note 20 Ultra 5G also gets a 5x optical zoom periscope camera compared to the regular telephoto shooter on the Note 20. Camera-wise, Samsung has used the same strategy of the Galaxy S20 models.
If you consider all the improvements on the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G, the extra 27K seems worth it. However, the main thing to consider here is 5G. Yes, 5G is not available in India and may still be over a year out. But the Note 20 Ultra is being touted as a 5G ready device, which means the phone will be relevant for longer. So, yes, if you have the budget, you should definitely go for the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G.
