What started as a Chinese smartphone company’s journey to offer devices that would take on flagships from the best comes full circle with OnePlus 3. A stylish body, an excellent display, superb camera and a nifty OS are necessary for any top-end smartphone and OnePlus 3 scores big in each of these must-haves.
OnePlus 3’s design resembles many of HTC’s smartphones — sleek and handy; unibody metal casing, and minimalistic. Though it can pass off as an HTC flagship in looks, OnePlus logo at the back calls for differentiation. Another deviation from the norm is the 3.5mm audio jack placed on the bottom edge of the device, next to the USB Type C charging port. The phone’s a looker of a device — stylish, classic and crafted with finesse.
The phone’s full HD display is highly-responsive bright, vivid and reproduces colours efficiently. Subjects and their colours don’t look too bright or saturated. It gives users little to complain about.
Usually, a good camera is considered as icing on the cake for above-average smartphones. OnePlus 3’s cameras complement its performance thrusting the the device into the ‘flagship-killer’ category. Its 13MP rear camera details objects, colour and ambience way better than most of the Android phones available. Its output is comparable and at time exceeds that of devices such as Samsung S7 and Apple iPhone 6. Though its Auto/HDR modes are capable of delivering excellent results, its manual mode is a winner. The manual mode gives users more control over shutter speed, brightness, ISO sensitivity, etc. OnePlus 3s front camera too doesn’t disappoint and delivers very good results.
OnePlus 3 runs Android Marshmallow with a layer of Oxygen OS out of the box. Oxygen OS is pretty much stock Android version but come with a few nifty features such as widget-like feature which comes up when you swipe right from the home screen. It contains options like weather, recently-used apps and memo. Another useful feature — swipe up —which launches Google Now and lets you search for apps on the phone is a time-saving option.
The phone doesn’t let you down on battery performance either. Moderate usage will see the phone last through an entire work day. What if your usage exceeds that? OnePlus’s Dash Charge feature ensures that the phone gets completely charged in about 30-45 mins.
Why should you buy it?Classic unibody metal chassis, good looks, awesome camera and extraordinary performance at a price way less than the likes of Apple iPhone 6s, Samsung S7 and LG G5 make OnePlus 3 the phone to have and flaunt.
