Microsoft recently announced that its new Bing search engine has crossed 100 million daily active users. It has been little over a month since Microsoft introduced the AI-powered Bing Chat feature.

Yusuf Mehdi, Microsoft's VP for Modern Life, Search and Devices, said that the company is aware that the numbers are still small, particularly in comparison to Google, which currently has over a billion daily active users. However, the new AI chat feature is helping Bing reach new users it has never had access to before.

In a blog post, Mehdi said, “We are pleased to share that after a number of years of steady progress, and with a little bit of a boost from the million plus new Bing preview users, we have crossed 100M Daily Active Users of Bing.  This is a surprisingly notable figure, and yet we are fully aware we remain a small, low, single digit share player.”

This is the first time Microsoft has revealed Bing’s daily active user count and the AI chatbot has a lot to do with it. Mehdi notes that nearly one third of daily active users are new to the search engine. Apart from the growth in new users, Microsoft is also seeing engagement grow as more people are conducting more searches daily.
