Android app data found susceptible to hijacking

Android users are aware of the fact that their sensitive data is transmitted almost constantly through popular apps for using Facebook, Paypal, Yahoo, and Microsoft Products. According to PCMag, researchers from Philipps University and Leibniz University have examined around 13,500 free apps from Google Play and have found that around eight percent of the apps contained encryption technology that was vulnerable to being hijacked.The hijacking, called a Man in the Middle (MITM) attack, is where a scammer intercepts data as it travels between the user and its intended target. The researchers had picked up 100 apps for a manual audit and were successful at carrying out MITM attacks against 41 of them.
