Four years ago, he termed the buzz around cloud computing as “complete gibberish,” but in his opening keynote at Oracle Open World 2012 earlier today, Oracle CEO Larry Ellison embraced cloud computing in a warm bear hug, announcing Oracle's first public cloud that squarely takes on Amazon as well as a private cloud offering where the compute infrastructure is owned and managed by Oracle but located in the customer's datacentre and behind the customer's firewall.
