Speaking to CNN-IBN, Trivedi said, "Don't need bullet trains, India needs better tracks to prevent casualties in train accidents."

In a bizarre claim, the former minister further blamed the accident on "caste system" in the railways, saying trains like Shatabdi never face such incidents.

Meanwhile, Congress general secretary Digvijaya Singh, in a series of tweets, called for the resignation of Union Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu.
