When Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav stated that days of one-party rule were over and future belonged to coalition government, it sparked nationwide debate on a possibility of early polls. But N Ram, Editor-in-Chief, The Hindu dismissed such a possibility saying SP was not hinting at elections.

Speaking to CNBC-TV18, Ram said he neither foresees a fall of the current UPA regime, nor a possibility of a revival of the third front. He, however, admitted the present government has lost its legitimacy.
Speaking about the reforms that have been unleashed since P Chidambaram took over as finance minister, Ram said it would be difficult to execute any of the measure under current volatile situation. "Indian politics is facing a period of painful uncertainty," he said.
