In the early hours of May 7, 2025, India launched Operation Sindoor, a coordinated military offensive involving the Army, Navy, and Air Force. The operation focused on nine known terror hubs: Four facilities run by Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), including the Markaz Subhan Allah complex in Bahawalpur, three Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) centers, notably the Markaz-e-Taiba headquarters in Muridke, two Hizbul Mujahideen bases located in Kotli and Sialkot. These sites were reportedly involved in training militants and planning attacks against India. According to reports, these camps had seen increased activity in recent months, particularly after the Pahalgam attack.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally monitored the operation throughout the night from the situation room in New Delhi. National Security Advisor Ajit Doval coordinated with top Indian defense officials and maintained direct communication with his American counterpart, Marco Rubio. The US Secretary of State was also briefed in real time.

Videos emerged from Pakistani cities showing scenes of panic as explosions occurred near residential areas. One widely circulated video shows a blast near a traffic jam, sending people fleeing from their vehicles. Ambulances were seen rushing victims to hospitals in Bahawalpur, Murdike, and Kotli.

The strikes, launched via drones, fighter jets, and naval intelligence, achieved their objectives with minimal collateral damage. Defence sources confirmed that all nine terror sites were successfully neutralized, with secondary explosions confirming the presence of arms and ammunition.
