Special situations opportunities funds aim to capitalise from the unique situations faced by a company, industry or economy which may create a temporary disruption in their share prices. Currently, there are four schemes -Franklin India Opportunities, ICICI Prudential India Opportunities, Aditya Birla Sun Life Special Opportunities and Axis Special Situations and two new fund offers from Samco and WhiteOak Capital mutual funds follow this strategy while building their portfolio.
