OpenAI brings ChatGPT Projects to free users with file uploads and customisation

OpenAI has rolled out ChatGPT Projects to free users, expanding a feature that was previously exclusive to paid subscribers. Projects allow users to organise chats, upload files, and add customisation options within ChatGPT, making it easier to manage work around specific subjects

Projects for all users – The feature, launched in December last year for paid subscribers, is now available to free users as well.

File uploads and limits – Free users can upload up to five files per project, Plus/Go/Edu users up to 25, and Pro/Business/Enterprise users up to 40

Customisation options – Projects can be personalised with colours and custom icons, though scheduled tasks remain a paid-only function.

Availability – Already live on the web and Android app, with iOS rollout coming soon.
