Three terrorists were killed after an encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua, according to reports on September 11.

An encounter had broken out between security forces and terrorists at the Kathua-Basantgarh border in Udhampur area of Jammu and Kashmir, according to the reports. Based on specific intelligence, an operation was launched in Kathua and contact has been established at the Kathua-Basantgarh border with terrorists, as per Public Relations Officer Defence Jammu.

The development follows a ceasefire violation by Pakistan along the Jammu border earlier today, when Border Security Force (BSF) said one of its personnel sustained injuries after unprovoked firing from Pakistan in Akhnoor sector near the international border.

Jammu and Kashmir is set to hold elections in three phases starting on September 18, with results expected on October 8.
