'They erased our vermilion': Widows of Pahalgam victims hail Operation Sindoor - 'The name itself brought tears to my eyes'

"I am elated because the terrorists will now understand the value of a human life and how precious it is. The sacrifice of my husband has not gone in vain," she added.
"It's a befitting reply after the way those terrorists erased the vermilion of our daughters," said Pragati Jagdale, widow of Santosh Jagdale, another terro victim, in a statement to news agency ANI. "On hearing the name of this operation, I got tears in my eyes. I sincerely thank the government," she said.

Ashanya Dwivedi, wife of Shubham Dwivedi, who was shot dead in the Pahalgam attack, was quoted by PTI, "I thank the government for taking revenge for my husband's death."

She continued, "This is the beginning of revenge. I know that Modi ji won't stop till he wipes them (terrorists) off completely. He has given us this much belief that all the terror spots will be destroyed. By naming this strike as 'Operation Sindoor', he has shown that we have taken the revenge being sought by us."
The families of Samir Guha and Bitan Adhikary, two West Bengal residents, who were killed in the recent terror attack on tourists in Kashmir's Pahalgam, on Wednesday expressed satisfaction over India's strike on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, calling it a "step towards justice".

Guha and Adhikary, both residents of Kolkata, were killed in the Pahalgam terror attack on tourists last month.

"I am happy that our country has hit deep into the heart of the terror camps. We would request that this attack must continue till terrorism is wiped out from our neighbourhood," Guha's wife said, speaking to reporters at her home.

Terror victim Navy officer Lt Vinay Narwal's mother, Asha Narwal, hailed India for avenging the April 22 attack and said their entire family and people of the country stand with the government.

Retaliating against the Pahalgam terror attack, Indian armed forces on early Wednesday carried out missile strikes on nine terror targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir, including the Jaish-e-Mohammad stronghold of Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taiba's base in Muridke.

"It is a very good thing that (Prime Minister Narendra) Modi has avenged the (Pahalgam) attack. I am with them (the govt), people are with them, and our entire family is with them," Asha told reporters in Karnal.

"I want to tell our Army to give a befitting reply so that such incidents (like Pahalgam) do not occur again," she said and added that those who got martyred have got justice.

The family of Bharath Bhushan, a Pahalgam terror attack victim, welcomed the air strikes carried out by Indian armed forces on nine terror targets in Pakistan on Wednesday and said government has done a good job and that they stay in support of them.

Bhushan from Bengaluru, who was visiting Pahalgam with his wife and three-year-old son, was shot dead by terrorists on April 22. His wife, Sujatha, and their child survived the attack.

Bushan's father Channaveerappa said he heard the news at 6 am that the airforce has attacked the terrorist camps in Pakistan.

Appreciating government's effort, he said, "The name, 'Operation Sindoor' is correct because they have removed the tilak of many women. That's a good step. Government has done a good work and they have also taken the support of many countries." "What Pakistan has done, their bad work. They are (sheltering) terrorists in their hideouts, giving them money. They are supported and trained by Pakistan's army. Modi has taken this message to different countries and explained Pakistan's dirty Mode of Operation," he added.
