Passengers at Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport faced inconvenience on December 2 after three Air India Express flights to Hyderabad, Vijayawada and Nagpur were delayed due to technical glitches.
The airline did not disclose details of the technical issue. However, in a statement, Air India Express said: “Three of our flights departing from Bengaluru today were delayed by approximately 1 to 1.5 hours after the flight crew elected to return to the bay as a precautionary safety measure, in line with standard operating procedures.”
“All aircraft were inspected by our engineering teams and cleared for operations after the necessary checks were completed,” it said.
“We regret the inconvenience and appreciate the patience and understanding of our guests. Safety remains our highest priority, and we are committed to upholding the strongest operational and engineering standards,” the airline adds.
Meanwhile, due to poor visibility at Hyderabad airport, one IndiGo flight was also diverted to Bengaluru on December 2.
Separately, IndiGo, Air India and Air India Express are facing delays and cancellations as 200-250 Airbus A320-family aircraft in India are being taken up for urgent software or hardware fixes to address a potential flight-control issue. With nearly half of the country’s 560 A320-family planes being briefly grounded for these upgrades, operations across airlines are likely to be disrupted, sources said.
