4.4 magnitude earthquake jolts Delhi, tremors felt in Noida, Gurugram; Delhi Metro resumes services

The tremors were felt at 9:04 am in the national capital region on Thursday, including in Rohtak and Ghaziabad.

A 4.4 magnitude earthquake was felt in Delhi and the surrounding areas of Noida and Gurugram on July 10. The epicenter of the quake was 3 km on the north east of Jhajjar district in Haryana at a depth of 10 km, the National Centre of Seismology said. The location is 51 km on the west of New Delhi.

The tremors were felt at 9:04 am in the national capital region on Thursday, including in Rohtak and Ghaziabad.

The quake briefly caused panic among the residents with Delhi Metro trains stopping briefly due to the impact. However, the metro services are running normally as of now. A passenger onboard said, "The train stopped around 9.04-9.05 am. We didn't feel (the tremor)."

A Gurugram resident said, "...For a few seconds, it felt that the ground shook vigorously. All of us rushed out..."

So far, no casualties have been reported.
